2025 - 2026 Vehicle Registration and Parking E-Permit Applications
ɬÀï·¬ is launching a new parking system starting August 1, 2025 with significant changes to the permit types. The NuPark portal is no longer in use. All vehicle registrations, permit applications, and other parking requests must now be submitted via online forms. Before calling or emailing, please use the appropriate form available on the OSS website.
Reminders:
- If you bring a car to campus you must register it, even if not parked in an SPU lot.
- Students must reapply for a permit each year.
- Faculty and Staff permits roll over, but vehicle information must be verified or updated annually.
E-Permits
Parking permits are now electronic except for Day Passes. If you purchase a permit, you will not be sent a physical decal. Our parking system manages e-permits so enforcement officers will know if a vehicle is authorized to park in any specific lot or stall. Day passes can be picked up at the Office of Safety and Security or mailed to a location of your choice.
Parking on Campus
To help reduce neighborhood impact, all SPU community members who bring a vehicle to campus are asked to register their vehicle and obtain a valid parking permit.
What’s Changed:
- With the purchase of a Student Permit, all students may park in any unmarked and unreserved space in open parking lots regardless of the location or residency.
- Residential lots are no longer reserved for residents. Parking is now first-come, first-served always.
- Permit types have been simplified, and spaces are no longer individually assigned.
- Card access to gated residential lots (Emerson, Wesleys, Arnett) will only be granted to:
- Decrease in student parking fees. All student permits are priced at $199 billed quarterly, still a yearly commitment. This is down from $215-$225 depending on the residence in past years.
- All Carpool permits are now free starting at 2+ riders instead of 3+ riders.
Additional Notes:
- Vehicle registration and permit application must be completed through the updated system the .
- Parking permits allow access to specific lot types but do not guarantee a stall.
- SPU does not monitor public city streets; citations and towing on city streets are enforced by the City of ɬÀï·¬.
Parking Rates for Academic Year 25/26
Except for Day Passes or Books of Day Passes, all parking permits are priced annually but billed incrementally—per quarter for students and per pay period for employees. These permits represent a year-long commitment.
Student permits are valid for the full academic year and billed quarterly.
Faculty and Staff permits automatically renew each year unless canceled.
If you only need a permit for a specific quarter—such as for study abroad, graduation, or withdrawal—you must submit a Parking Cancellation Form to end your permit and stop future charges.
Important: The Office of Safety and Security does not automatically track permit usage or enrollment changes. It is your responsibility to notify us if your situation changes or if you no longer need your permit.

Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations
Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations are in the Ross Lot, Dravus Lot, Otto Miller Hall South Lot (replacement to be installed – currently unavailable), and the Visitor Lot behind the Bookstore. A valid parking permit is required for use since these are in campus parking lots. EV drivers may use the charging stations as available or reserve specific charging times using ChargePoint’s website or mobile app. Charging is priced at $0.34/kWh to break even with our costs. Please be respectful of others who might want to use the charger and unplug and repark your vehicle when notified your charging session is complete. If you are connected but not charging for more than 30 minutes, there is a $0.04/minute charge.
Follow these instructions on how to set up a ChargePoint account and use SPU’s charging stations.
