Immediate Emergency Response

If You're Experiencing an Emergency RIGHT NOW:

On Campus: Call (206) 281-2911 immediately

  • Security dispatch is staffed 24/7, 365 days a year
  • Officers will respond immediately to your location
  • Emergency services will be coordinated as needed

Off Campus: Call 911, then notify SPU Security at (206) 281-2911

Emergency Phones on Campus

Look for yellow emergency phones throughout campus that automatically connect you to our Security Operations Center with the push of a button. These are located:

  • Inside residence halls
  • At entrances to academic and office buildings
  • Throughout campus walkways

Our Office of Safety and Security (OSS) provides immediate response for:

Campus Emergency Procedures

馃敀 Lockdown Procedures

If you receive a lockdown alert:

  • Stay where you are - do not leave your building
  • Lock doors and move away from windows
  • Stay quiet and wait for official instructions
  • Do not let anyone in unless directed by law enforcement
  • Follow instructions from emergency personnel

馃殴 Evacuation Procedures

When fire alarms sound or evacuation is ordered:

  • Exit immediately using nearest safe exit
  • Do not use elevators
  • Gather personal items quickly (phone, keys, ID)
  • Go to designated assembly areas
  • Check in with Building Emergency Coordinators (orange vests)
  • Wait for all-clear before returning to building

Missing Student Protocol

If you believe a residential student is missing:

  • Call OSS immediately: (206) 281-2911
  • Provide student's name and last known location
  • OSS will coordinate with Residence Life and law enforcement
  • Students: You can designate a confidential emergency contact in Banner

SPU Security works closely with:
