Student Parking & Transportation

Affordable, flexible solutions for getting to and around campus

Pro Tip!  Coordinate with Financial Aid and Apply by August 18th!
Smart students time their permit purchase with financial aid disbursement. Don't get stuck with citations while waiting for aid money.

What's New: Enhanced Parking Flexibility

Great news! We've simplified our parking system to give you more options and flexibility. Your student Flex Permit now provides access to any available space across campus - not just your assigned area.

How it works: Parking is now first-come, first-served across all student-accessible lots. If your preferred lot is full, simply head to any other open commuter or residential lot. One permit, endless possibilities!

If your vehicle receives a parking citation on campus, here’s what you need to know:

    • You’re responsible for any citations issued to your vehicle—even if someone else was driving or it wasn’t registered.
    • If your citation is because you are unregistered, registering your vehicle within 3 days of the citation may allow it to be voided—but only on your first offense.
    • Each fine is $50, including forced registration, unregistered, wrong permit, etc.
    • If you believe the citation was issued in error or there were special circumstances, you can file a Parking Citation Petition online within 10 days for review by SPU’s Transportation Manager.
    • Citation charges are added to your Student Financial Services (SFS) account for the quarter in which they occurred.

SPU offers EV charging stations at:

Drivers may charge as available or reserve specific times via the ChargePoint website or mobile app. Registration can be done for free using the Online Permit Registration portal by choosing the Street Parking, Conference Guest, or Visitor option.

Yes — Commuter lots (parking lots containing unmarked unreserved spaces) are open without permits from 5 p.m.–7 a.m. weekdays and all day on weekends. Reserved, disabled, and fire lane spaces are always restricted.

Display it clearly on your dashboard.

You can add a vehicle to your permit by submitting the Parking Change form

You may register multiple vehicles under your permit at no additional cost. This allows flexibility if you occasionally use a temporary vehicle or switch between vehicles. However, registering excessive vehicles for the purpose of providing free parking to others is prohibited and may result in citations or the revocation of parking privileges.

Yes — submit a Parking Citation Petition within the required timeframe. You must initiate your appeal within 10 days of the citation being issued. Appeals submitted after this deadline will not be accepted

No – permits are tracked via license plate number. You will not receive anything to place on your car unless you specifically order a 20 Day Pass Book.

You are responsible for cancelling your permit. Transportation makes a best effort to track status changes for students for study abroad, withdrawal, or other circumstances but these changes are not automatically sent to our office.

Submit a Parking Cancellation request and within 10 days of the quarter’s start for a full refund. Refunds after this date will be up to the discretion of the Transportation office and may be pro rated based on the date you request a cancellation.
