Through June 6: Art Department presents "Fuse"

The SPU Art Department is pleased to present the Senior Visual Communication exhibition, "." This culminating showcase features individual projects by students Isa Byrum, Liz Crutcher, Emilly Cruz, Tista Cummings, Rio Giancarlo, Emily McElheran, June Min, Ethan Ortega, and Breanna Smith. The exhibition will be on view from through June 6.

The name "Fuse" symbolizes the fusion of skills, stories, and passions that shape each designer’s unique journey. This exhibition invites the creative industry, our community, and peers to experience the energy, intention, and bold futures of the graduating VisCom Class of 2025.

Interior design seniors 2025
June 3: Senior Interior Design Portfolio Show

A message from Family and Consumer Sciences: Join us in on Tuesday, June 3, 4:30–7 p.m. in the Hightower Showroom. Over the past four years, these students have worked diligently to develop their skills and knowledge and they are now earning their bachelors of sciences in interior design. Come show your support and experience the creativity and talent showcased in their final projects. Light refreshments will be served — we look forward to seeing you there!

June 5: Apparel Design and Merchandising Senior Portfolio Show

Tha Apparel Design and Merchandising Senior Portfolio Show features graduating seniors and showcases the students’ academic projects, personal explorations, and future goals. The event is drop-in style, so stop by anytime during the evening. We’d love to see many ɬÀï·¬ there!

June 3: Percussion Concert

The Percussion Ensemble will present their Spring Concert on Tuesday, June 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the E.E.Bach Theater in McKinley Hall. Works by Ivan Trevino, Ney Rosauro, Keiko Abe, William Kraft, Blake Tyson, David Gillingham, Chuck Ricotta, Brett Dietz, and Famoudou Konaté will be presented. Admission is free.

Software license renewals

A message from Information Technology: As we near the end of the fiscal year, SPU IT is preparing software license renewals for the upcoming year to ensure uninterrupted access and continued compliance. If your department has any academic software licenses you’d like to renew, please email itsupport@spu.edu with the following information:

  • Software name
  • Version (if applicable)
  • Number of licenses required
  • Download source or installation link
  • Support contact or help resource for the software
  • Confirmation that the renewal has been budgeted for in the next fiscal year



Thursday deadline
Faculty/Staff Bulletin deadline. Summer schedule starts June 9.

The Faculty/Staff Bulletin is published every Monday during the academic year or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday. The next deadline is Thursday, June 5. The next issue will be published Monday, June 9, and the Bulletin will then be published every other week during the summer. The Bulletin will resume weekly publication after Labor Day.

If you have information or event news, send it as soon as possible with an image or graphic to Bulletin editor Tracy Norlen at fsb-editor@spu.edu. Submissions may be edited for clarity.

Congratulations to President Porterfield, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award from NACCAP (North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals) at their annual conference last week in Houston.

McKinney's article published

An article by Jennifer McKinney, professor of sociology, and co-authors Karen Snedker (Chapman University) and Charles Lanfear (University of Cambridge), titled, “,” was published in Socius, an open access journal of the American Sociological Association. Data included in the article were collected over three time periods (waves) by research teams made up of SPU sociology majors.
