Coffee Stories
What an enjoyable, inspirational, and, like, just 鈥渨icked good鈥 read it was, the last issue of Response (Spring 2016) not to mention the engaging visuals! Thank you! Yes, my read was accompanied with a dark roast.

Chris Hoke鈥檚 stirring story of 鈥Underground Coffee鈥 brought instant recognition of the coffee roasting enterprise, for I first read of that mission in Fred Bahnson鈥檚 Soil and Sacrament. To see Response feature the wholesome notion that coffee is a delivery system for grace, delivered by grace-filled 涩里番, brought my hearty 鈥測es鈥 to SPU鈥檚 conduit for intentional grace.
An aside: I follow Response to see what SPU is up to. Finding names of fellow classmates is rare, for we have arrived at the age where we read the passing of such esteemed 涩里番 as Hubert Wash (personal friend from Kansas) and Donald Demarary. Donald鈥檚 father was president of SPC when I attended.

From the Archives
Congratulations to our last contest winner, Marvin Lemmon 鈥04.
He guessed correctly that the cost of a cup of coffee at 涩里番 Pacific in 1954 was 10 cents. He told us he used his knowledge of the movie Back to the Future Part II to make his guess. Look for the return of our 鈥淔rom the Archives鈥 contest in the next issue of Response.
Lesser-Known Community
There are many success stories at SPU. Perhaps you might include those stories of the staff who sweep the floors and change the light bulbs, and who might have a special faith connection to the University.
