You are not alone! We work with many students facing a variety of personal issues.

Short-term individual counseling helps you gain a better understanding of any concerns and difficulties. These insights are then translated into plans for action that you can carry out in your daily life. For
issues that would be better resolved through a longer-term individual approach, an appropriate referral to a community provider may be recommended.
Students present with a variety of concerns: adjustment to college, anxiety, depression, issues of past or present abuse, addictions, relationship issues, feelings of inadequacy, perfectionism, past or recent
losses or trauma, body image and eating concerns, or crisis situations such as feeling suicidal.

Questions about accommodations?
The counselors at the SPU Student Counseling Center do not generally provide documentation for accommodation as we do not conduct psychological assessment at the SPU SCC. For clarification, a clinician conducting a psychological assessment for disability evaluation purposes uses objective measures to answer a referral question (presence of disability) and then provides specific recommendations and accommodation options, per those findings. Documenting a disability and need for accommodation is a specific area of psychological practice and is enhanced by the benefits of formal, standardized data collection and actuarial data interpretation. The standard to analyze functional limitation is made by comparing an individuals’ abilities to that of most 涩里番 in a general population. We can provide local referrals to qualified providers.
We are available to engage in a therapeutic treatment relationship with students. After several sessions, a student may request a Summary of Treatment document, which details salient information regarding the service(s) you have received, such as: dates of attendance, the diagnosis/concern that was the reason for therapy, and the recommended treatment plan/approach. In order to have sufficient information, a counselor may provide a Summary of Treatment only after a student has had at least 3 current and consistent meetings with the same provider at the Student Counseling Center, and if the student is currently active in therapy.
