Where Students Live in 2026–27 (Updated)
First- and Second‑Year Students (HS Graduation Years 2025 & 2026): Ashton Hall, Emerson Hall, and Moyer Hall.
Third Year and Above (HS Graduation Year 2024 and before): Arnett Hall and the Campus Apartments.
Note: These area designations apply to the 2026–27 academic year. Building selection is not available for new & transfer students in the housing registration; students indicate room type preferences, and assignments are made after each deadline based on availability.
How Room Assignments Work
- You will indicate your preferred room type (e.g., double, triple, pod/suite where applicable) in your Housing Registration.
- After each posted deadline, students with completed registrations are assigned. Students who meet the deadline have an equal chance of receiving one of their preferred room types.
- Each area has a finite number of spaces, so specific assignments cannot be guaranteed. Availability and the number of similar requests affect outcomes.
- If demand for housing exceeds supply, priority is given to students who are required to live on campus under the Residential Living Requirement.
Roommate Matching
SPU’s roommate matching pairs students based on the living preferences you mark in your Housing Registration (sleep schedules, study habits, cleanliness, etc.). Learning to navigate differences is part of living in community, and matches aim to balance similarity with healthy diversity.
Requesting a specific roommate: If you prefer to live with a particular friend, you can submit a mutual request during Housing Registration. Be sure that both of you choose similar room preference options and by the same registration deadline for consideration. Once roommates have been assigned, changes will typically not be made prior to room change timeframes within fall quarter. While roommate requests cannot be guaranteed, we do our best to honor mutual requests when space, eligibility, and assignment windows allow.
Housing Accommodations (Disability-Related)
Disability-related housing accommodations provide access to the residential experience and are approved case by case based on the nature of the documented disability/health condition and the reasonableness of the request. Examples may include mobility, visual or auditory considerations, severe environmental or food allergies, immunocompromised status, or other medical/physical needs. In some situations (e.g., immunocompromise or severe allergies), students may wish to inquire about single-room status.
Process & Timelines: Incoming students should submit requests by June 1 for Autumn Quarter housing; returning/continuing students should submit by April 1 for Autumn Quarter. For Winter or Spring housing, aim to complete the process six weeks before the quarter begins. Once approved, Disability Support Services (DSS) partners with Housing and Residence Life to identify an appropriate placement.
