The Excellence in Teaching Fellowship honors a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in the practice of teaching and cultivation of student learning. The award is graciously endowed by Patrica M. Bentz. This year's total award of $1700 provides up to $1200 for attendance at a teaching-focused conference of the recipient’s choice, as well as a $500 stipend based on this year's distribution from the endowment.
Completed applications should include the application form, 500 words on your philosophy of teaching excellence, 500 words on your philosophy of bringing Christ into the classroom, 500 words on evidence of continuous improvement and innovation in the classroom, and a recent (within the past year) letter of support from a colleague in or outside your department, after your colleague has observed your course (using the peer observation rubric) (PDF).
The recipient of the award will be announced at the annual Faculty Governance and Awards Luncheon in June.
