| Introduction to the culture of Europe through literature; themes of family, community, heroism, beliefs and values, and women's roles will be examined chronologically from the classical to the modern periods. |

The language skills acquired by students are demonstrated in intensive programs of living and travel. |

| Develops conceptual tools for understanding the nature and the processes of language: phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics. Please note that the distance learning version of this course is not eligible for financial aid nor is it part of the on-campus tuition plateau; full payment is required at the time of registration. |
