POLITICAL SCIENCE MAJOR
Suggested Course Sequence: A Four-Year Plan

At least 51 total and 25 upper-division credits are required for the BA in Political Science major. This course sequence is meant to be used as a guideline. Consult with your faculty advisor or academic counselor about modifying this plan to meet your needs, and to reflect any coursework you have already completed prior to enrolling at SPU.

Major				POL 1110, POL 1120 OR POL 2464
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)	Foreign Language Competency, if required			Complete Writing Skills and Math Skills Competency requirements, as dictated by placement tests AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, NSA, NSB, MAT (Choose one to three depending on competency courses needed)
Other				Electives to reach at least 45 credits if needed

YEAR 2	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter
Common Curriculum				/
Major				POL 2320; Select one of the following: POL 2641, 2642, 3410 or 2900; POL electives (10-12 credits total)
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, NSA, NSB, MAT (Choose one to three depending on competency courses needed)
Other	Apply for admission to the major			Electives to reach at least 90 credits if needed

Major				POL 4643; Select one of the following: POL 3440, 3550, 3125, 4911, 4940; POL electives (10-12 credits total)

Other		Apply to graduate once 105 credits and admission to major have been earned.		Electives to reach at least 135 credits if needed

YEAR 4	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter
Common Curriculum
Major				POL 4899; Select one of the following: POL 4000, 4450, 4451; Select one of the following: POL 4641, 4642; POL electives (10-12 credits total)
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, NSA, NSB, MAT (whichever categories remain unfulfilled)
Other	Create a final-year plan and meet with your faculty advisor for review.			Electives to reach at least 180 total college-level quarter credits and 60 upper-division credits if needed
