COMMUNICATION (Journalism Track) MAJOR
Suggested Course Sequence: A Four-Year Plan

At least 58 total and 25 upper-division credits are required for the BA in COMMUNICATION - JOURNALISM major. This course sequence is meant to be used as a guideline. Many courses in the major are offered every other year.  Consult with your faculty advisor or academic counselor about modifying this plan to meet your needs, and to reflect any coursework you have already completed prior to enrolling at SPU.

YEAR 1	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter
Common Curriculum		OR	OR
Major				COM 1101, COM 1321
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)	Foreign Language Competency, if required			Complete Writing Skills and Math Skills Competency requirements, as dictated by placement tests AHA, AHC, SSA, SSB, NSA, NSB, MAT (Choose one to four depending on competency courses needed.)
Other				Electives to reach at least 45 credits if needed

YEAR 2	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter

Other		Apply to graduate once 105 credits and admission to major have been earned.		Electives to reach at least 135 credits if needed

Major				3-5 credits in Student Publications/ Internships,
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, NSA, NSB (whichever categories remain unfulfilled)
Other	Create a final-year plan and meet with your faculty advisor for review.			Electives to reach at least 180 total college-level quarter credits and 60 upper-division credits if needed
