COMMUNICATION (Communication Studies Track) MAJOR
Suggested Course Sequence: A Four-Year Plan

At least 55 total and 28 upper-division credits are required for the BA in Communication – Communication Studies major. This course sequence is meant to be used as a guideline. Consult with your faculty advisor or academic counselor about modifying this plan to meet your needs, and to reflect any coursework you have already completed prior to enrolling at SPU.

YEAR 1	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter
Common Curriculum		OR	OR
Major				COM 1101, COM 1321
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)	Foreign Language Competency, if required			Complete Writing Skills and Math Skills Competency requirements, as dictated by placement tests AHA, AHC, SSA, SSB, NSA, NSB, MAT (Choose two to four depending on competency courses needed.)
Other				Electives to reach at least 45 credits if needed

YEAR 2	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter

Other	Apply for admission to the major. A 2.5 GPA is required.			Electives to reach at least 90 credits if needed

Major				COM 3001, JRN 3355, Choose COM 3628 OR COM 3629 (offered alternate years) Begin taking COM electives (10 credits required) from list found in year 4 below.

Other		Apply to graduate once 105 credits and admission to major have been earned.		Electives to reach at least 135 credits if needed
